PRINTING TIPS
Click here to see our home page and learn about swimming holes in other states
All the material on this web site is copyrighted but you can print from it for your own personal use. See tips below.
PRINTING FROM YOUR BROWSER
Of course, you can
print directly from your browser, using the PRINT function. BUT,
IF YOU JUST HIT PRINT WHILE LOOKING AT A SWIMMING HOLE LISTING IT WILL
PRINT ALL THE SWIMMING HOLES IN THE STATE OR STATES, NOT JUST THE ONE
YOU ARE LOOKING AT! LOTS OF PAPER!
If
you wish to print just one (or a few) swimming holes, use your CURSOR
to HIGHLIGHT the swimming holes listing(s) you want individually then
click FILE > PRINT > SELECTION.
You can print the state map as well by highlighting it and clicking
FILE > PRINT > SELECTION. Some state maps are wider than can be
printed in this manner. For these, in the PRINT menu, select PROPERTIES
> SETUP and print it LANDSCAPE rather than PORTRAIT.
Finally, print any "LOCAL AREA MAPS" used in that state using the same
technique as for State maps.
Most color printers allow the user to select the option of printing in
grey tones instead of full color. For maps with a background color,
this will save colored ink. Also, color printer users can adjust the
dpi setting on the printer and print out color maps in “draft” mode,
which uses color ink sparingly. If you print the maps using the highest
resolution setting, it will take a long time to print and it will use
up lots of ink.
PRINTING FROM MS WORD
Older versions of MS WORD will not handle the table structure used
in this web page. However, newer versions, such as WORD 9.0 (which I
got with Office 2000) will enable you to produce a very usable swimming
holes booklet that you can also keep up to date.
I suggest that you PRINT in entirety the states that you are interested
in, and insert this into a 3 hole loose leaf book in alphabetical sort
(and record the date that you did so.) Then, when you visit the web
page again, look for swimming hole listings that have an "DATE UPDATED"
more recent than your last print date and print only those listings and
insert them into your loose leaf, also in alphabetical sort .
To print from one of these newer MS WORD versions, open the state
listing which you would like to print. Right click and SAVE the page to
your hard drive. Start MS WORD and open the saved web page. (If you
have the newer version of MS WORD, it will render the page accurately.
Otherwise, this won't work.)
To make an updatable loose leaf book, you must start each new swimming
hole listing on a new page. To do so in MS WORD, use INSERT > BREAKS
> PAGE BREAK before each swimming hole listing. Use PRINT PREVIEW to
make sure it looks good, then PRINT the whole state. (You may still
need to print the state map separately, as described above, if it needs
to be printed LANDSCAPE)
